April 2019, we held our monthly meeting at the Dobson’s Restaurant
at the Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa, Arizona. Our guest speaker
was Major General Michael McGuire. MG McGuire is The Adjutant
General, Army and Air Force National Guard for the State of Arizona;
and, concurrently serves as the Director of the Arizona Department
of Emergency and Military Affairs. He gave a presentation to our
attending members which covered the current composition and status
of the Arizona Guard, including commitments, domestic and overseas,
of Guard resources supporting active US military forces.
Additionally, he provided a more clear description of immigration
activities and affairs that impact Arizona as a boarder state. It
became obvious during his presentation that a true crisis exists at
the Arizona/Mexico boarder, and a solid commitment of support and
assistance from the Federal Government is sorely needed.
